Whew it was a long day.. Took the wheels off & got my new tires mounted, put the wheels back on. Replaced the rear brake pads while the wheels were off, and threw a new air filter in. The tires are a great improvement, I just returned from an hour joyride hunting twisting roads, getting the bike really leaning for the first time. I’m pretty sure I need to bleed the brakes some more, as they aren’t holding up like new. With the learning curve, I spent probably five or six hours out there today, just me, tools, & my machine. At one point I had to continuously remind myself of the “Zen” part of Zen & the art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Overall it was a pretty enjoyable experience though. Went into a dealership for the first time, man what a toy store. My Pelican panniers have arrived, and a PackRat touring mounting rack is in the mail. Things to do next: Change oil & filter, use a washer to shim the needle in the carburetor for a richer mixture ($0.22 mod), & do the Doohickey upgrade.. It’s coming along!
Tomorrow I’ll be returning to Seattle to do some more performing. I’ve definitely been slacking in that department. Since taking last Sunday off at Pike Place for my birthday, it’s been almost two weeks since I’ve performed. Looking to start introducing my music into the equation more, giving myself an alternative busking outlet in between magic shows. I’ll let ya know how the weekend goes!
